Overview of an Intensive Course!
Your membership begins with a 3-day intensive course which takes you out of the swamp of tricks and avoidances. From here you begin your journey towards eloquence and free expression. This may be a longer journey for some than it is for others, and that’s okay. Everybody is different and our courses are structured so that each person’s individual needs are met.
Each day of the intensive course introduces new elements of the speaking technique and mentality, with many opportunities to practice your developing speaking skills.
A note on the accommodation for the course
Although not compulsory, during the 3-day intensive course we recommend that you share a room with an experienced graduate of the programme. This graduate will assist throughout the course in addition to your assigned mentor. We will organise the accommodation for you.
International Focus – our members (aka graduates) come from across the globe
Residential Courses – our course program focuses fully on your success as a new learner.
Focus On People – every new student gets their own personal coach as part of the package.
Student Dedication – each new student is treated like an absolute beginner.
You can practice with us at any time with our international coaching list available to all members as part of your intensive 6 Week Action Plan after your 1st course.
Speaking from Experience: Day One
The morning sessions are spent learning and ‘drilling’ the physical parts of the technique.
Costal breathing is introduced and speech built up from single sounds, from 1 word per breath to 3 words per breath. This provides the foundation for your new and powerful way of speaking.
Reinforcement is critical at this early stage of learning, so you will be spending the afternoon practicing the weapons and techniques taught earlier that morning.
This is often considered the hardest day of the course, but the progress made is well worth the concentration and effort required.
Build Your Future With The McGuire Programme: Day 2
We’ve been there and done that!
Even at this early stage of the course, many students will experience a new found freedom with their speech.
Your confidence and self-esteem will be increasing by the hour. We teach you how to maintain this speaking freedom through ‘The Laws’ and ‘The Directions’ of the Programme.
Fear reduction, non-avoidance and assertive self-acceptance strategies are a major theme on Day 2. Students will also be shown how to transfer the speaking techniques from the training room to real world speaking situations.
Bringing the fear down to FUN!!!: Day 3
You will learn to carry out the fundamentals of telephone and face-to-face interactions, and how to approach people on the streets and in shops. You will then have the opportunity to put all you have learned into practice using your new techniques and change in speaking personality. While all speaking challenges are optional, the vast majority of new students complete them with a courage and conviction that inspires those who witness their achievements.
During the final day we review and prepare you for your return home. We discuss the complications of returning to work or school, including how to deal with possible relapses.
These sessions include an explanation of the crucial follow-up support and is a chance to clear up any areas of confusion.
Ensuring the Programme is for You!
The membership fee is payable 4 weeks in advance of your first intensive course.
If you decide on the second day of the course that you want to leave and the course is not for you, then the fee will be reimburst to your bank account after the course.
If you decide to join the programme on the second day, your membership fee will entitle you to full access of all the coaching and follow-on support including those referred to in this booklet. This recognises our knowledge that overcoming stuttering, no matter how severe or not the stutter, is a long-term process involving changes to your “system of self” that is you.
While your success begins with the intensive 3-day course, we are not interested in providing a short burst of fluency but rather the long-term achievement of your speaking goals.
Although there is no guaranteed “cure” for stuttering many McGuire graduates, including myself, have gone on to establish themselves in careers that require eloquent speech for example, marriage celebrant, school teacher, professional trainer, business owner, self-employed etc.
Many graduates have also made their mark in public speaking clubs such as Toastmasters, winning competitions at area and state level against ‘fluent’ speakers.
The McGuire Region that I was actively involved in before moving to Germany, averages an annual success rate of over 80%. I hope to bring that succes rate to Germany. The success rates are measured by international Regional Evaluators who assess a graduate’s use and knowledge of the speaking weapons and techniques taught on an intensive course.
The McGuire Programme Requirements from you!
